Year 3 History Topic
Our history topic this year was 'The Ancient Egyptians'. Through our studies we were transported to a great civilization which grew up on the banks of the river Nile over 5000 years ago. All of this work was enhanced and brought to life when Miss Hadley, an archaeologist from Liverpool University, visited our school. She brought with her a selection of interesting artefacts used by the Ancient Egyptians in their everyday life. We were able to handle these artefacts, which included kohl eye make-up, a board game called Senet, some jewellery, cooking pots and a scarab beetle said to warn off evil spirits. We all agreed that this was the most enjoyable event of the year. |
