March 2011 -Letter to Parents

Foundation Stage Questionnaire for Parents

Dear Parents,

With the end of term now here, there are many successes from this term that we would like to celebrate. We are really proud of the children’s progress!

Firstly, hopefully you will be able to find some nursery rhyme songs with numbers in that we have been practising. I hope your children will remember them and use their fingers to show they know their numbers.

Secondly, we sing a lot in our class and we have a singing teacher come and introduce us to new songs every week. She has shown us the website ‘sing-up’ and we are currently enjoying a song called ‘A Keelie’ which is from Ghana. It is free to sign up and access the songs, so I hope you enjoy them. The children have enjoyed dancing and singing along. When we return, on a Wednesday the Netherton Children’s Centre will be offering a PE or exercise class in the afternoons. It will be a first come, first served basis, and a sign up sheet will be available when we come back. All the team wish you a very restful Spring Holiday, and look forward to seeing you back at school on the 18th of April, as Holy Week begins.

Firefighters Visit -Learning is fun in Foundation!

The firefighters came to see the children in March but clearly the teachers enjoyed their visit as much as the pupils! Miss Taylor got dressed up as a firefighter and Mrs Riley had a turn with the hose, though it's not clear if she managed to put out a fire! The looks on the faces of the children pretty much says it all!

Everyone was allowed to sit in the fire engine and the fire and rescue team were very friendly.
