Letters  -Summer Term

Friday 23rd July 2010

Dear Parents,

Nursery F1

Nursery will re-open on Monday 6th September after the summer break. You are invited to drop in with your child any time on Thursday 2nd September or Friday 3rd September. This will give you an opportunity to meet Ms Taylor who is the newly appointed Foundation Stage manager who I am sure you will make very welcome to our community. If you have friends or relatives with children aged 3 and under then they are also welcome to come along as we do have a few places yet to fill and application forms can be picked up on the day.

I hope that you enjoy the summer break and look forward to seeing you in September.

Yours sincerely

Dear Parents,

Well the end of term has finally come amidst torrential rain and floods. Let's hope that the summer weather is on its way!
Today we not only say goodbye to our Year 6 children but also to Mrs Gandy and Mrs Aspinall. I would like to thank both of these teachers for the hard work and dedication that they have shown to our school. We wish each of them success and God's blessings as they start a new phase in their lives and thank them for the contribution that they have made to your child's education. Ms McGuirk starts her maternity leave today. We wish her good health and good luck as she now awaits with eager anticipation the arrival of her little one.

Of course we also say goodbye to the Year 6 leavers. We are very proud of our children as they leave and wish them good luck as they move on to their new schools where we hope they will continue to thrive. May God keep them safe in his loving hands and Our Lady of Walsingham continue to guide them.

Finally I would like to thank you for your continuing support of our school and look forward to seeing you on THURSDAY 2nd SEPTEMBER when school re-opens for the autumn term. I wish you all a restful summer.

Yours sincerely

We are having "step up time" on Monday afternoon next week when the children and staff will spend some time getting to know their new class. Full class lists will be on display during parent/teacher interview time on Wednesday.

You will know from the news this week that the Government is now scrapping its Building Schools for the Future programme. I know that this seems rather selfish as it is a massive blow to our Secondary colleagues but thank God this does not include our own building developments as they are part of the Primary Capital Programme and that money has already been received by the Archdiocese. The current situation with our own building works is that there are still some finishing touches to be done to the new entrance, lobby and classroom and then I am meeting with the architect next week with the expectation that the final phase will start in December/January. If there is any change to this I will let you know as soon as I hear but I think it's fair to say that we are definitely in a time of economic uncertainty.

Finally on a more cheery note it was great to see so many of you at both the Infant and Junior Sports days. Thank you so much to the staff who organised the days, yourselves for attending an dthe children who once again displayed their endless energy !

Yours sincerely
