Parents/grandparents welcome. Thank you It does seem a timely opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed so well to our two appeals in the run up to Advent. On 15th
December we will be handing over a cheque for £400 to CAFOD to help
some of the poorest people in our world. Particular thanks to the
parents and children of Class 4 who collectively bought 1 blanket pack,
1 school starter kit, 3 goats, 3 vegetable plots and 2 latrines from the
alternative Christmas gift catalogue. What a wonderful way to re-capture
the true meaning of the season. In Service Days Two staff training days have been set aside for next year. These are 8th and 9th May. School will be closed to children on these days. Please make a note of them in your diary. Parents' Shelter Planning permission for the promised parents' shelter on the junior playground has finally been granted. At this stage you may well be asking 'what shelter?' This was something identified in parental questionnaires last year by a sizeable number of parents. The design I have chosen will also double as an outdoor classroom for the children. Work should begin early in the New Year. Attendance Happily our attendance figures are showing some improvement. A small number of parents/guardians do not remember to telephone on their child's first day of absence. This means my colleagues are spending valuable time trying to make contact when they should be doing something more worthwhile. This particularly applies to Nursery parents/guardians. Whatever the reason for your child's absence, please telephone school as close to 8.30 am as possible to avoid any unauthorised absences being recorded. In the run up to Christmas, Truancy Watch has asked schools to remind parents keeping children off school to go Christmas shopping, to think again. Fixed penalty notices are being issued.
