Eight very lucky children from St Sebastian's and St Cuthbert's were able to go and see the Pope with Miss Walsh and Mrs Hagan, when he visited England. We left from Edge Lane at 2 am. on the Friday morning to travel down to Twickenham, arriving about 7 am. along with thousands of other pilgrims who had come to see His Holiness.

The children all received goody bags with a flag, some refreshments, a souvenir booklet and CD.
When the Pope arrived we were able to see him in the pope-mobile which was great fun. Everyone cheered and waved their flags. There was lots of singing and presentations for the children. It was a lovely morning and well worth the long visit and many children were able to have their medals and rosary beads blessed.

We set off home about 1 pm. and arrived back at 7 pm. -a long journey but well worth it to see the Pope who seemed to enjoy the occasion too.
