In Year 5/6 the creative curriculum is Planet Earth. Over the next few weeks/months the pupils have invited people from Countries all over the world to come in and talk to them and tell us a bit more about their country of birth. We are doing this to give us a greater understanding of other cultures, and also to see what other Countries and places are like. Our first visitor was Michael from Slovakia. He came into class in November and talked to us about his home country. We were able to ask Michael lots of questions about music, home life, hobbies, school, climate, food, cars, jobs, cultures and we even found out that he is Martin Skrtel's best friend! The children are going to use the information to create a fact-file all about Slovakia. This topic is also helping the children refine their interview skills for our next literacy topic which is 'Writing News Reports.' |
