The children in school were able to participate in some very special Chinese activities. Fenfen Huang, who has been into St. Sebastian's on many occasions, came into school to lead a workshop on dance and drama for year four. She also visited Y2 to tell them the legend of Chinese New Year and how each year came to be named after an animal. The pupils were also taught some Chinese phrases. Y4 enjoyed a day of dance, painting lanterns, calligraphy and drama. At the end of the day, Y1 pupils were invited into the hall to watch the drama about the New Year legend and the dance they had been taught. All the children enjoyed the experience and look forward to celebrating Chinese New Year 2010, the Year of the Tiger. The actual day for Chinese New Year this year is 14th February but celebrations will taking place the weekend of 20th February in Chinatown in Liverpool City Centre. |
