These
pictures are about Buddy Training involving children from both St.
Cuthbert's and St. Sebastian's.
A buddy in school
is when pupils listen and help to solve the worries of other students
and speak up for them.
This is usually on the playground during break times.
Peer advocacy has many benefits including creating a calmer school,
reducing incidents of bullying and providing extra support on the
playground.
It also raises the self esteem of the young people who volunteer to be
involved as they develop lots of useful skills.
A
training day was set up in St. Cuthbert's led by Miss Walsh and Mrs
Hilton. A selection of children from KS2 were given training to become
buddies on the playground. Both schools worked extremely hard and were
very excited about starting their new role as a buddy. They will be
delivering an assembly to launch this after half term.
Congratulations
to all of the children who attended the training session! |
