These photographs show the children and staff enjoying the free salad bar which was in school all last week. The new kitchen is almost ready in school and there will be a daily salad bar as part of the new selection. There will also be a taster day for the children and we are planning to have sessions for parents to come along and see the new facilities and sample some of the new meals on offer. Our cook will be able to offer a wider range of meals and we are hoping that many more children will start to have hot dinner in school instead of packed lunches which are time consuming for parents to prepare every day.
Meanwhile, three children from Y6 went along to the L'Arche Workshop on Lockerby Road on Friday to present the cheque and money raised from the cake sales they had organised in school. The children were shown around the workshop and met some of the residents many of whom they recognised from St Sebastian's church.
Ean in Y6 put together this thank you letter to send out to the parents and families of the children in the school for their support buying cakes. The amount raised in now more than this as the children have continued to bring in and sell cakes.
